Profile: Dr. van Tongeren is currently with the OECD in Paris where he heads the division for Policies in Trade and Agriculture in the Directorate for Trade and Agriculture. He received his PhD (dr.) in Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1993 (Microsimulation of the corporate firm: exploring micro-macro economic relations, Berlin etc.: Springer, Series Lecture notes in economics and mathematical systems No, 427, 1995). Before joining OECD he worked as head of the division International Trade and Development at the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (LEI) in The Netherlands. He has lectured on microeconomics, economic modelling and on international trade policy at Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Higher School of Economics in Moscou, Wageningen University and in numerous courses for varied target groups, including the GTAP short course.
